Nepal’s cement industry is a cornerstone of its construction and infrastructure sectors, supplying the raw material for roads, housing, hydropower dams, and public works. Cement demand is closely tied to government and private infrastructure spending. Although the cement industry is smaller than hydropower or agriculture, it contributes significantly to industrial output and employment. By some estimates, cement (and associated construction materials) accounts for quite a few percent of Nepal’s GDP.
